Originally from Mălini - Suceava, the tenor Teodor Ilincăi graduated from the National Music University in Bucharest in 2006, debuting in the same year at Bucharest National Opera with the role of Ionică from Puss in Boots by Cornel Trăilescu. In the same year he began his vocal training under Corneliu Fănăţeanu`s guidance and received a scholarship offered by CEE Musiktheater Vienna. He won the Grand Prix at the Szczecin Tenors Competition in Poland in 2008, then the second place at the Francisco Viñas International Canto Competition in Barcelona in 2010, which brings him first collaboration with the Gran Teatre del Liceu in 2012 with the role of Rodolfo from La Bohème by G. Puccini.
His international debut takes place on the stage of the Hamburg State Opera with the role of MacDuff from “MacBeth” by G. Verdi and in the same year he sings Ismaele from Nabucco by G. Verdi at Vienna State Opera and Rodolfo from La Bohème - G. Puccini at Royal Opera House London.
He received numerous awards and distinctions: The Singer of the Year in the VIP Prize Gala, Ludovic Spiess Prize offered by the Romanian Musical Forum (2009), In memoriam Iosif Sava Prize awarded by Radio Romania Cultural (2010) and The Award for Excellence offered by Elite Art Club Unesco and Jeunesses Musicales Romania (2013). In March 2016 Teodor Ilincăi was conferred the Romanian Crown Order - Knight Rank by Her Highness Princess Margareta of Romania, by the decision of His Majesty King Mihai I of Romania. In 2018 he was conferred Officer Rank of the same Order by His Majesty Margareta, Custodian of Romanian Crown.
Teodor Ilincăi has participated in important national and international charity concerts: European Aid Organization for Children (Munich, 2009), the AIDS Gala (Berlin, 2011) or charity concerts for the Young Talent Program belonging to Princess Margareta of Romania Foundation (Bucharest, 2015, 2017). The concerts in Valladolid (2011), London and Bodrum (2013), Graz (2014), Bucharest (2017) and Madrid (2018) alongside the prestigious soprano Angela Gheorghiu are among the collaborations with the important names of the world of opera.
He collaborated and will collaborate with a large numbers of important opera houses and prestigious opera festivals: Monte Carlo, Vienna, Peralada Opera Festival, Seville, London, Brussels, Dresden, Munich, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Macerata Opera Festival, Strasbourg, Madrid, San Sebastian Music Festival, Sydney, Paris, San Diego, Marseille, Lausanne, Santiago de Chile, Avenches Opera Festival, Genova, Barcelona, Bilbao, Berlin, Geneva, Tokyo.
